3 Super Easy Ways To Deal With Stress And Anxiety

Despite all the conveniences available to us in today’s world, how to deal with stress and anxiety is still part of the overall scheme of our lives.

Stress and anxiety management provides comfort and release from these problems that tends to affect our physical, mental and emotional health.

What is Stress and Anxiety Management

Stress and anxiety management use tools, procedures and methods to help us take control of our problems. These practices make sure stress and anxiety don’t affect our daily routine.

Problems that leads to stress, that are specific in nature, have different stress management techniques that can be applied to keep you in balance and harmony.

Breathing Exercises

Our body tends to react during times of stress & anxiety. Irregular breathing, sweating, aches and pains, slow metabolism are just some of the reactions our bodies go through. Since these are all physical in nature, we have to deal with it in a physical way.

One method is through breathing exercises. These exercises help control the flow of oxygen in your body and the distribution to different parts of your anatomy.

One way to do breathing exercises is to count as you breath. Breath slow and deep, relax your stomach as you do so. Try to keep a rhythm and follow it all throughout the duration of the exercise.

In time, you will be able to control your breathing instantly during times of stress. This will help you relax & alleviate some of the negative effects in your body.

Meditation

Meditation is great way to achieve stress & anxiety management. Meditation deals more on the mental aspect than of the physical.

Remember the saying “Mind Over Body”? Meditation allows your mind to relax and focus on a single thought. Other thoughts simply drift away to nothing.

The art of meditation have been used for centuries. It started off as an offset of pagan religion. Nowadays, many people practice meditation for coping with work, focusing on tasks, or to relax their mind to keep themselves in balance.

Meditation can be quite hard at first, but can be improved through consistent practice.

  • Look for a quiet place where you will have the least amount of distraction.
  • Then relax your body from your toes to your head.
  • When you feel heavy then you are already relaxed. This will change to a light feeling when practiced often. You can now concentrate on your mind.
  • Try to focus on a single thought or imagine an inanimate object.
  • If you get distracted by stray thoughts, try to imagine your a watching movie. Observe these thoughts and let them drift away to the next one. When all these stray thoughts cease, you will have achieved meditation!

Seek Professional Help

A therapist or psychiatrist can be a tremendous resource when it comes to stress and anxiety management. The specialists will help you accept your problems and find possible solutions.

They can help find the trouble areas and help your arrive at solutions which you might be hard-pressed to realize on your own.

Conclusion

Dealing with stress and anxiety can be stressful in itself. Ever since I started having issues with stress and anxiety, I have looked for ways to make it disappear.

Sometimes I have received some “not so kind” responses when I have shared my struggles with stress & anxiety issues.

All of the aforementioned ways to deal with stress and anxiety in this article, I eventually learned about and done myself. Until the last couple of years, I was ashamed to admit for fear of ridicule by friends and colleagues.

But it is well worth it to save yourself emotionally than to worry about what others think. I came to realize there are those who will not admit they have their own battles they are fighting, but will judge others trying to fight their own.

I’m not saying to expose your stress and anxiety issues with everyone if you are not comfortable to.

I’m saying don’t mock and look down on those who are willing to share with others their struggles. They are the ones who are not strong enough to fight it on their own.

Even though some may have made snide comments (or looked at me as less of a person), I have received support and advice from others who were going through the same things.

It’s amazing the things you can learn from someone else who has been there. But remember, what works for one individual, may not work for you. I am sure when you find the proper techniques you will take control of your life and not let stress and anxiety control you.

This is great. Meditation has done wonders for me. I was hesitant to try it because it just seemed weird to me initially, but it helps me alot.

My gma is a retired nurse and she taught me the breathing exercise. For some reason when I’m stressing out I hold my breath causing chest pains. I later had to start breathing exercises to get myself to relax. I strongly believe it helps.

I am learning to meditate and really struggle to quiet my brain. When I do, and can focus on the meditation I notice a huge difference in my stress levels and anxiety.
I find that working out helps too. Some loud music and lots of sweating usually drowns out all the chaos in my brain.

These are all great tips with dealing with stress and anxiety. I think most of us need to stop and slow down a bit in our day to day lives. I fell in love with yoga and meditation and try to do it a couple times of week when I get a chance. It’s always a challenge, but we need to make time for ourselves.

Great tips for handling stress and anxiety. In addition, I always pull out my journal then write my thoughts and feelings. Exercising or going for a brisk walk helps too.
