I experience quite often the “happy” moms. The moms who are constantly happy around others and on social media when they are really struggling to cope with the new experience and responsibility of being a mother. As I prepared for this post it was interesting to see that I encountered many mothers say “i was not believed” “my feelings were not real to others” or “i was told it is apart of being a new mom”. It is not. There is a healthy way to care for your young and care for yourself! As I have said often you cannot pour from an empty cup also known as you have to care for yourself before you can care for others.
During my research I found that 1 in 8 women will experience pre- or post partum depression and anxiety! Read one moms experience with Postpartum depression here. There are so many things that can be done to decrease this high statistic! One of which is what the new mom can do for herself; which easier said than done. Here are a few tips to get you started:
- Make Time For Yourself
- Connect With Other Moms
- Go To Counseling
- Go On A Date With Your Spouse
- Ask For Help!
