3 Simple Ways To Become More Organized

I will teach you 3 simple ways to become more organized THIS YEAR!

Affiliate Disclaimer: This site contains affiliate links, which means I may receive a commission if you purchase through any of the links (at no additional cost to you).

I have been teased for years by my friends and family on my ability to be overly organized, not miss anything and ability to see ahead. Usually, I am the designated planner as well, for family trips, as I have it planned to the time.

Needless to say, in professional interviews, when the question is asked : “how do you stay organized” is always my favorite. I do not have to think very hard about what to say.

Related Post: How To Detox From Social Media

I have three planners: one I keep on my person and the others I keep at work. I have a dry erase calendar in my home office and one on the fridge in the kitchen. Get a planner like mine here!

Lastly I sync my phone, laptop and tablet calendars to stay up to date and mobile with my day.

Yes, that is A LOT, but it awesome! It is not expected that everyone will adapt to my madness but I do have some tips as to how to become more organized.

Tip 1 How To Become More Organized:

Clean it all out and start fresh

Whether it is a closet you’re organizing or your life, start over. Toss old clothes or get a fresh planner . By starting fresh you are allowing your mind to provide space for new things and new habits.

Tip 2 How To Become More Organized:

Form Your System

I normally color code items based on professional, personal, birthdays…you get the picture. However you can do it whichever way you like! I do recommend making it habit, to put events in your planner and your cellphone because you will be least likely to forget.

In general, create a schedule “every Tuesday I will vacuum and go for a run” or “Every Friday I will do laundry and go grocery shopping”. The more you do it the more habitual it will become.

Tip 3 How To Become More Organized:

Do Not Procrastinate

When you have plan to do something, do it that day! Things come up, life has its own plan so you do not want to regret not going to the grocery store Friday, now that it is Sunday and you’re snowed/iced in with no food (Yes it happened to me before).

The point of a plan is to stick with it, again the more you follow through the better you will know yourself and the time it takes to complete the task.

What are some ways you stay organized?

I am such a planner and love having my life organized. I have a planner for work and for my blog. My home office is my blog domain so I have a chalkboard for brainstorming and a dry erase board at eye level to keep my schedule “in my face.” Being organized isn’t just about being regimented. It’s about getting stuff done. And the more stuff I get done, the more fun I can have. 🙂

I have to stay organized because we have 5 kids. If I did not have an organizational system in place our life would be chaotic. Like you, I use a calendar. I use a wall calendar and the calendar on my phone to put in appointments and activities. We have an organizational system when it comes to the toys our kids have. It helps with the clutter of their toys. We recently moved so we started fresh with a lot of organizational habits. Great motivational post, especially for the holidays when things can be hectic.

I am the worst when it comes to pushing things back. I procrastinate so much! Maybe that’s why i am so disorganized!

These are great tips! I completely agree with them all. I have found that having an actual planner that helps me plan out my weeks and months has been extremely helpful in balancing work and mom life. I’ll have to try some others too, thanks for sharing!

I guess what I need now is to form a system on how effectively I could start this eventually. Indeed such great tips!

The best tip for me is the last one! It’s very hard to not put things off but by doing stuff right away, you get the job done quickly. Never been a fan or organizers and planners though.

I absolutely must embrace the “do it now” approach. I am a master procrastinator and it always ends in chaos. I did get a bit of a clean out done before the holidays and it makes such a huge difference!

You and I are definitely like souls! I have been dubbed organizing queen by some of my pals and coworkers but I will admit I slide sometimes. My most recent relevation is that we are human and do run out of energy. I’ve found that when I’m over busy at work, I’ll be super organized at work and then slip at home. These tips are super helpful reminders for those moments ♡

I love these tips!! Especially number 1… clearing it all out and starting fresh is seriously the best. To organize paper clutter, I use a filing system and also a few binders. The binders hold things such as favorite recipes and information pertaining to my kids (sports schedules, etc.).

Great advice. I plan on gutting my office this week, putting up shelves and actually making it useable, rather than the current mess that it is!
