10 Fall Activities To Do For Fun And Happiness
Roast Food
One of my favorite Fall activities to do for fun and a happy belly is to roast food on an open fire! My sisters and I have a tradition of getting together at my home and roasting hot dogs, marshmallows and any other food we want!

I got my fire pit here and use it so much! It’s super easy to clean as it has a tray at the bottom you can pull right out. Be sure to have your roasting sticks as well!
Don’t have much space? No worries! My sisters and I have also done a small roast using heaters and mini roasting sticks that we got here!
Have A Fall Movie Night
There is nothing like a movie marathon in cozy pajamas and popcorn in the fall. If you are fortunate enough to get snow in the fall/winter months you can enjoy a day off, indoors, for some R&R.
Of the fall activities, this is one of the most relaxing as you can do many of your self-care activities while watching the television. Here is a list of self-care essentials you can choose from when settling in for a movie night.
Go For a Hike
What an awesome way to practice mindfulness than to go for a easy hike with crisp air and fall leaves! I am fortunate that there are many trails that I can walk or hike near my home, with many changing leaves and fresh fall air.
I try to do it at least 3 times a year as one of my fall activities and I am sure to practice my breathing techniques. This is also an opportunity to listen to meditations, podcast, audio books or music. I made a list here of motivational music and you can find my favorite meditation to listen to here.

Arts and Crafts
With the holiday’s right around the corner, it makes sense to participate in some arts& crafts fall activities that could also be given to loved ones as gifts. One of my favorite fall accessories is a sweater and scarf (I am the easiest to shop for) which many people can knit themselves!
You can also make holiday cards, décor for Thanksgiving or Christmas and other items you just may need or want around the house. Have fun with it and be sure to have your hot chocolate handy to add some soothing vibes!

Cook
I don’t know about you but food brings me so much joy! Fall is the time that we can get away with making traditional fall foods, that we cannot or do not want to make the rest of the year.
My mom makes the best sweet potato pie, I make chili, and we have cider and different flavored coffee’s (hello Starbucks!). Use this time to find and make new recipes at home by following my mindful eating board on Pinterest, you won’t regret it!
Go Apple or Pumpkin Picking
Definitely add this to your outdoor fall activities list! Look up a nearby pumpkin patch in your area and plan a visit with your family. It is a great way to experience the outdoors in relaxing way. This activity is perfect to do before Halloween so that you can create a jack o lantern for outdoor home décor!
Apple picking is also a way to celebrate the fall season! Get outdoors, practice mindfulness, reduce your anxiety, improve your mood and bite into an apple! Psst…you can use them to create apple pie and candy apples, umm yum!
Have a Picnic
This is a perfect date night or family day activity for this fall! Gather some food items from home, our favorites are sandwiches, chips, fruit, thermal (for hot cocoa) and sweets.
Of course, be sure to bring many blankets as the fall weather in some states are windier than others. I found my thermal and blankets here and was lucky enough to find a picnic basket at Good will!
Visit A Haunted House
If you are into spooky things, like my husband, you will love visiting Haunted houses in your area, and can do so without being enclosed with others. Be sure to buy a Halloween costume to join in on the fun! I buy mine from Party City or even cheaper on Amazon. This is what I plan to be this year, check it out!

Go to the Mountains
If you think visiting the mountains any other time of the year is beautiful you have not seen a mountain view in the fall! My husband and I often travel to Asheville, NC to have fun and relaxation by participating in an abundance of fall activities.
We visit many monuments, take tours, and eat at new restaurants but we are always sure to get a cabin with a view! It is a must do in our household. Check it out below.

Complete a Book Challenge
For all of my fellow book worms, completing a fall book challenge is awesome! I often finish the fall having read over 15 books! I commit to little to no television time on certain days to read all the romance, sci-fi, thriller and self-improvement books I can!
I even made a list of books you can read here that can benefit your mental health, to add to your book challenge! Use this as a part of other fall activities to improve your self-care and gratitude this season.
I took on cooking on more meals and it is so therapeutic. The more detailed the recipe, the more time I spend focusing on some other than my worries. Make a evening of gathering the ingredients, cleaning the workspace, and prepping. It really helps..then cook, eat, and sleep.
Thanks for this post.
Cooking’s a funny one for me, if I’m tired and don’t know what to cook it’s stressful but if I plan and have time to enjoy it I love it ❤️
These are all lovely ideas! I love going for walks and seeing all the orange colours on the trees and on the ground as the leaves start to fall, it looks so pretty! Love having a cosy night in watching movies too! xx
Movie night is the best thing to do during colder months! Thanks for sharing all these great ideas. And by the way, the cabin view looks amazing! 🙂
